On October 21, we welcomed Congressman Aaron Bean, his wife Abby, and members of his team to Woodsman Kitchens & Floors for a showroom tour and a conversation about something that means a great deal to us: being 100% employee-owned.
The visit gave our team an opportunity to share what employee ownership means to them and their families. Congressman Bean listened thoughtfully, and Abby’s kindness and warm, calming presence made the visit feel especially welcoming.
A Look Inside Woodsman
We began with a tour of our Jacksonville showroom, introducing Congressman Bean to the spaces and products our team works with every day.
Our showroom brings together cabinetry, countertops, and flooring in displays that help homeowners picture the possibilities for their own homes. It also offers a look at the work our employees contribute to, from helping customers make their first selections to coordinating the details that bring a project together.
The tour provided a starting point for the conversation that followed: the people behind Woodsman and what it means for those people to own the company together.
A Conversation With Our Employee Owners
After the tour, we gathered in our conference room for a conversation with members of our team.
Employees shared what being part of a 100% employee-owned business means to them and their families. Congressman Bean listened thoughtfully, giving our team the opportunity to speak about their own experiences and why employee ownership matters to them.
That was the most meaningful part of the visit. Employee ownership can be described through a company structure or a benefits plan, but hearing directly from employees makes the conversation personal.
For our team, this was an opportunity to put those experiences into words and share them with someone representing our community in Washington.
Celebrating Three Years of Employee Ownership
Woodsman became 100% employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, or ESOP, on September 29, 2023.
We recently celebrated the third anniversary of that transition, making October a particularly meaningful time for this visit. It gave us another opportunity to reflect on employee ownership and recognize the people who are part of Woodsman’s next chapter.
Founded in 1983, Woodsman has been serving Northeast Florida homeowners and builders for more than four decades. Becoming employee-owned marked a new chapter in that history, connecting the company’s future with the people contributing to its work every day.
The visit gave us time to pause, come together, and talk about why that connection matters.
Thank You, Congressman Bean and Abby
We are grateful to Congressman Bean, Abby, and his team for spending time with us and hearing directly from our employee owners. We appreciated their warmth and the care they brought to the conversation. It was an honor to welcome them to Woodsman.
Meet the People Behind Woodsman
Our employee owners are part of the experience customers have with Woodsman, from their first showroom visit through the many details of their project.
If you are considering new cabinets, countertops, or flooring, we invite you to visit our Jacksonville showroom, explore the displays, and meet our team.
