Woodsman at the Icemen Guns N’ Hoses Game

Hockey players from police and fire teams shake hands on the ice after the Guns N’ Hoses game at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.

A Night That Felt Like Jacksonville

On Saturday, April 11, our team had the opportunity to be part of something bigger than business. Woodsman Kitchens & Floors was proud to sponsor and attend the annual Guns N’ Hoses hockey game hosted by the Jacksonville Icemen at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.

If you’ve never been, this is not just another game. It’s a full arena, a loud crowd, and a matchup between local police and firefighters that feels personal to the community. You’re not just watching hockey. You’re watching neighbors, friends, and local heroes compete for bragging rights.

What the Guns N’ Hoses Game Is All About

Before the Icemen take the ice, the Guns N’ Hoses game brings together members of local law enforcement and fire departments for a charity matchup. It’s competitive, fast-paced, and surprisingly intense.

This year’s game delivered on all fronts. The energy in the arena built quickly, and the crowd stayed engaged from start to finish. The police team came out on top in a close game, continuing a long-standing rivalry that keeps fans coming back every year.

More importantly, the event supports causes connected to the men and women who serve Jacksonville every day. That is something we are always proud to stand behind.

Why This Event Matters to Us

At Woodsman, we talk a lot about being rooted in this community. This is what that looks like in real life.

We are not just a showroom on Beach Boulevard. We are a team of people who live here, raise families here, and care about what happens in Jacksonville.

Sponsoring and attending events like this gives us a chance to:

  • Support first responders who serve our area

  • Show up alongside other local businesses and families

  • Be present, not just visible

It also gives our team a chance to spend time together outside of the day-to-day work. That matters more than most people realize. A strong team builds better spaces for our clients.

A Packed Arena and a Great Crowd

One of the biggest takeaways from the night was the turnout. The arena was full, the crowd was loud, and the atmosphere felt like a major event.

That level of attendance tells you something important. Jacksonville shows up for its people.

From families in the stands to groups of coworkers cheering together, it felt like the entire city was there for the same reason. Support, connection, and a good time.

Being Part of It as a Sponsor

As a sponsor, it was great to see our brand represented in a setting like this. Events like the Guns N’ Hoses game are not about hard selling. They are about presence and alignment.

Being associated with:

  • Community-driven events

  • First responder support

  • High-attendance local gatherings

That kind of visibility builds trust over time in a way traditional advertising cannot replicate.

For us, it reinforces what we want Woodsman to stand for. Trusted, local, and involved.

More Than Just One Night

The Guns N’ Hoses game is one night, but it reflects something bigger.

It reflects a city that values:

  • Service

  • Community

  • Showing up for one another

Those are the same values we try to bring into every project we take on. Whether we are designing a kitchen, building out a laundry room, or helping someone plan a full home update, the goal is the same. Create something that supports real life.

Closing Thought

We are grateful to have been part of this year’s event. To everyone who attended, played, organized, or supported it, thank you for making it what it was.

And to the Jacksonville community, this is exactly why we are proud to be here.

If you are thinking about updating your kitchen, bathroom, or flooring, we would love to help you get started.
