Step 2: Showroom Visit and Design Consultation

Your showroom visit is where the project begins to take shape. You can see cabinet door styles, finishes, countertops and flooring in person while discussing your needs with a designer.

Using those measurements, your designer develops a layout that balances appearance, storage and function. You will review the plan, adjust cabinet configurations and finalize finishes and features.
The timeline depends partly on how many revisions are needed and how quickly selections and appliance specifications are finalized.
Step 4: Final Approval and Ordering

Once the design is approved, the order can be placed. Before signing off, confirm the cabinet style, finish, hardware and appliance sizes.

Use this waiting period to prepare for construction and coordinate other professionals.
Step 5: Preparing the Kitchen

Before installation, preparation may include removing old cabinets and countertops, completing demolition, relocating plumbing or electrical connections and repairing drywall.
Woodsman does not perform plumbing, electrical work or drywall work. If your remodel requires these services, they must be coordinated separately and completed at the appropriate time. Your designer will help you navigate this and give suggestions. Establishing responsibilities and scheduling these trades early can help prevent gaps between stages.
Our tear out specialists arrive to tear out your old cabinets and countertops 1 week before your new cabinets are installed.
Before tear out, you should create a temporary place for basic meal preparation and remove dishes, food and personal belongings from the work area.
Step 6: Cabinet and Flooring Installation
Typical timing: Several days or longer
Installation time depends on the project’s size and complexity. A straightforward layout may move quickly, while a larger kitchen with trim, an island or multiple cabinet areas will require more time.
Flooring may be installed before or after cabinetry depending on the material, layout and project plan. Your designer and installers will determine the appropriate sequence for your selections.
Step 7: Countertop Templating and Installation
Typical timing: 1 week
Countertops generally require their own measuring and fabrication stage. After the base cabinets are securely installed, the countertop area can be precisely templated. The material is then cut and finished for the space before installation.
Because templating follows cabinet installation, expect a period when the new cabinets are in place but the permanent countertops and sink are not yet available. Fabrication time varies.
Step 8: Final Connections and Finishing Details
Typical timing: Several days or longer
After the major products are installed, the remaining work may include connecting plumbing and appliances, completing electrical work, installing hardware, touching up walls and adding the backsplash. Some of these tasks may be handled by professionals outside Woodsman and must be scheduled separately.
Leave some flexibility for final adjustments rather than planning an important event immediately after the anticipated completion date.
Step 9: Quality Control
Once installation is complete, the finished work is carefully reviewed by one of our quality control specialists to ensure everything is properly installed and functioning as intended. Any adjustments or service items are documented and addressed so your new kitchen is ready to enjoy.
